RF Design Engineer - CDMA

Description

The CDMA RF Design Engineer will be based in the Chicago office and assist with network design in Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and other states.  Occaisional travel to those markets may be needed.

  • Telecommunication system design, planning and optimization duties
  • Provide radio frequency design of wireless systems
  • Perform RF propagation modeling and prediction
  • Perform interference analysis and performance recommendations
  • Specify equipment layout design for new sites
  • Evaluate and specify ancillary equipment needed for new builds
Functions

 

  • Design and plan radio communication systems
  • Perform network design for new sites using RF propagation and prediction tools
  • Cell site equipment layout
  • Oversee equipment installation
  • Specify ancillary equipment such as antennas and lines
  • Participate in candidate site walks and make recommendations for new site locations from an RF perspective
  • Perform system drive test, data collection and analysis
  • Analyze system parameters and make recommendations for KPI improvement
  • Monitor and report system statistics
Requirements

 

  • BSEE degree or equivalent telecom industry work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years CDMA design experience
  • Solid understanding of CDMA and other commonly used wireless communications technologies
  • Solid understanding of the latest data technologies: EV-DO, UMTS, HSDPA
  • Familiarity with commercially-available drive test data collection and analysis tools such as Agilent, X-Tel and Actix
  • Familiarity with network design software such as CelPlan, TEMS, or Planet
  • Experience with Microsoft office tools a must
  • Willingness to travel
Conditions

The Design Engineer may spend time both in the field and in the office.
