Associate RF Engineer

Position Overview

  • Requires basic telecommunication design, planning and optimization duties
  • Provide radio frequency design of wireless systems
  • Perform RF propagation modeling and prediction
  • Perform interference analysis
  • Specify equipment layout design for new sites
  • Evaluate and specify ancillary equipment needed for new builds
  • Entry level RF engineering position in the design and implementation of wireless network

Essential Job Function

  • Perform system drive test, data collection and analysis
  • Analyze system parameters and make recommendations for KPI improvement
  • Perform network design for new sites using RF propagation modeling tools
  • Assist Senior Engineers in system optimization and integration of new sites into existing systems
  • Participate in candidate site walks and make recommendations for new site locations from an RF perspective
  • Monitor and report system statistics

Position Qualifications

  • BSEE degree or equivalent telecom industry work experience
  • One (1) year of related experience in the telecommunications industry or other wireless-related business
  • Basic understanding of one or more of the commonly used wireless communications technologies:  CDMA, GSM, WiMax
  • Basic understanding of the latest data technologies:  EV-DO, UMTS, HSDPA
  • Familiarity with commercially-available drive test data collection and analysis tools such as Agilent, X-Tel and Actix is a plus.
  • Familiarity with network design software such as CelPlan, TEMS, or Planet is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft office tools a must
  • Willingness to travel is a must

Working Conditions

The Associate RF Engineer may spend time both in the office and in the field driving rings.
