Associate RF Engineer
Position Overview
- Requires basic telecommunication design, planning and optimization duties
- Provide radio frequency design of wireless systems
- Perform RF propagation modeling and prediction
- Perform interference analysis
- Specify equipment layout design for new sites
- Evaluate and specify ancillary equipment needed for new builds
- Entry level RF engineering position in the design and implementation of wireless network
Essential Job Function
- Perform system drive test, data collection and analysis
- Analyze system parameters and make recommendations for KPI improvement
- Perform network design for new sites using RF propagation modeling tools
- Assist Senior Engineers in system optimization and integration of new sites into existing systems
- Participate in candidate site walks and make recommendations for new site locations from an RF perspective
- Monitor and report system statistics
Position Qualifications
- BSEE degree or equivalent telecom industry work experience
- One (1) year of related experience in the telecommunications industry or other wireless-related business
- Basic understanding of one or more of the commonly used wireless communications technologies: CDMA, GSM, WiMax
- Basic understanding of the latest data technologies: EV-DO, UMTS, HSDPA
- Familiarity with commercially-available drive test data collection and analysis tools such as Agilent, X-Tel and Actix is a plus.
- Familiarity with network design software such as CelPlan, TEMS, or Planet is a plus
- Experience with Microsoft office tools a must
- Willingness to travel is a must
Working Conditions
The Associate RF Engineer may spend time both in the office and in the field driving rings.
